ABOUT MAGIC PAWS DOG TRAINING

Magic Paws Dog Training was built on the idea that so much of what people think of when they hear the words "dog training" simply does not reflect the needs of the modern day dog or their human. Most people these days do not want a dog who walks in a perfect heel every second they're out, they just want a dog who does not pull. They want a friendly dog, a social dog, a dog who can enjoy an outdoor table at a restaurant, brewery, or family get togther.

As dogs have become more like family, the ideals and practices in a lot of training have stayed pretty much where they have always been; human orders, dog obeys. But nowadays, most people want a friendlier relationship with their dog, as opposed to a more controlling one. Here at Magic Paws not only do we think this is a positive step forward, we also know that wanting a fun and friendly relationship with your dog does not mean that you can't have a dog who will listen to you.

The difference is, our training is built on a foundation focusing on relationship, and clear communication. We first make an effort to teach the dog the behavior we want, and reward the correct behavior, as opposed to just correcting what is wrong. This creates a dog with a positive view of training, it becomes an enjoyable task as opposed to a chore, and that is more fun for both the dog and human.

 

We believe that a dog who has a strong, positive relationship with their owner, and with training in general, is a dog who is not only more likely to listen, but who will enjoy listening.
